Update: Cable damage incident near Basingstoke

This notification is issued as a special message to all Openreach customers

Openreach experienced a serious cable damage incident on Wednesday afternoon, 08 June 2022. Multiple cables and ducts were damaged by a third-party contractor, working in Dummer, near Basingstoke, Hampshire, affecting copper, fibre and Ethernet and Optical services.

Our engineering teams have been working continuously on the recovery and the majority of the affected fibre, Ethernet and Optical services, including those for the critical sites and where CPs have informed us of vulnerable end customers, are now back on line.

We’re looking to restore the remaining services as soon as possible, but due to the scale and nature of the damage, this continues to be an extremely challenging and complex recovery, especially for the remaining, predominantly copper services.

We appreciate the impacts these cable damage incidents can cause and we’re doing what we can to minimise the effects on services. We thank you for your support as we work to fully recover the situation.

We'll issue a further update as the recovery progresses.

Regards
