Update: Cable damage incident near Basingstoke
This notification is issued as a special message to all Openreach customers
Openreach experienced a serious cable damage incident on Wednesday afternoon, 08 June 2022.
Multiple cables and ducts were damaged by a third-party contractor, working in Dummer, near Basingstoke, Hampshire. The damage affected copper, fibre and Ethernet and Optical services and impacted around 3,500 end customers.
Our engineering teams have been on site working through the night repairing the damage and a number of the affected homes and businesses, including the critical sites, are now back on line.
However, this is a challenging and complex recovery, due to the nature and scale of the damage, and we’ll continue to work 24/7 to restore the remaining services as quickly as possible.
We appreciate the impacts these cable damage incidents can cause and we’re working hard to minimise the effects on services. We thank you for your support as we work to recover the situation.
We'll issue a further update later today as the recovery progresses.
Regards
Openreach Communications
